I sat with many people waiting none of us new what was going on we never knew any waiting times when the nurse came out to call names people were asking her questions and she would wave them aside say just wait

This is my third appointment/treatment - over the three years the team of doctors/nurses I am met with have been consistent. It’s reassuring at a time when you may feel unnerved to see familiar, friendly faces in a very busy and overwhelmed NHS! Teo is always calm, kind, approachable and informative, Lauren always appears positive and happy and will do all she can to keep you calm/distracted too! Thank you ladies, it really does help during a time of uncertainty.

All the nurses were fantastic. Would come up and check up on me regularly. I was there for 2 nights. Each one of the nurses were kind compassionate and caring. I was treated with respect. Even the dinner lady was sooo nice and kind, coming around asking what I’d like to eat, offering tea/coffee and hot chocolate several times a day. Everyone was very friendly. I have nothing but respect and praise for all the staff that I met at the hospital during my stay, this was the first time I have been to this hospital and I would highly recommend this place

I arrived at Queens hospital at 1300 having severe diarrhoea and bleeding after go through your system I landed up in Raffts supposedly as a priority throughout the day I had several bouts of severe diarrhoea and bleeding one the first occasion I was in such a mess I pulled the emergency cord in the toilet No one came I managed to clean myself up with just the hand towels from the toilet I was placed in a trage area opposite this toilet this toilet was left uncleaned until 2300 the cubicle was being used throughout the day this gape twice in the day I was govern a drip and antibiotics throughout the day making me even more difficult to move around At 0130 the next morning I was moved to the Majors ward to a cubicle remember I was sat in a chairalll day with stomach cramps I went to the the cubicle only to find a chair inside no bed the bed arrived at 0330 am remember I am ungoing Chemotherapy I nearly gave up the will to live I had heard how bad the NHS is but after seeing first hand I am embarrassed to be a Human you would not treat a animal as I was treated

There are several things the stupid names you have for your department s May mean something to you but the ordinary people don’t need to know A&E would suffice make it straight forward no one wanted to take oneness for the actions just keeping patient s informed of what is going on is not hard to do I think that you are so used to the mess the NHS is in that you don’t look at it from the point of view of the patient don’t get me wrong I appreciate the help I had from the NHS but I nearly gave up the will to live and to cease my Chemotherapy I also informed Queens that I was a patient with Guys and they said they would contact Guys this did not happen as I have said I saw with my own eyes the state of the NHS beds in corridors people sitting on the floor in Raffts but for Gods sake there has to be a better way Once I was in to your ward system the care I would have expected was there and although there were difficulties I could manage them I am very sorry for sending you this letter but I would imagine you would like me to be honest with my response

I called 111 with a chest pain and high blood pressure (188) and was asked to go to urgent care on Sunday 14th April 2024.. I arrived there at 3pm. I was checked by the nursing staff and was seen by a doctor. The urgent care dept was professional. Thereafter I was sent to emergency care around 3.45pm and I was seated there till around 9am the next morning when I was taken into a ward after around 17 hours. Nothing was said as to why I was kept seated there for so long nor what was happening next other than my blood pressure being checked on and off. The ECG and a blood test was done there and 4 tablets were given and nothing said, then I asked them what it was for and was told it is to prevent blood clotting. Whilst in the ward the next morning a Consultant walked in and had a discussion and discharged me. I asked her if I will not be treated for my high blood pressure since I was not given any medication however the hospital records will prove what my blood pressure was that day and night. She said ‘no we don’t treat you for that here you have to see your GP’. I was sent home with absolutely no medication and to date I have not got an appointment to see my GP, the date I received was 17th May. I asked the doctor in the ward if my high blood pressure could have resulted in me getting the chest pain but the doctor only insisted that I see the GP. What was the point in me being kept there for 17 hours + 6 more hours till I was sent home. My NHS records which they had access to would have proved to them that I am a high blood pressure patient and have had even the catheter ablation done at the St Bartholomews hospital in London. The strangest thing here was that I was waiting to be discharged but no there was nothing to sign, I was just asked to walk out. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED OR WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE IF I COLLAPSED OR DIED ?? I AM A TAX PAYER AND KAW ABIDING CITIZEN I AM APPALLED AND EMBARASSED AT THE WAY I WAS TREATED AT QUEENS HOSPITAL EMERGENCY CARE

I was left in the dark throughout my stay . I had to ask for nearly all the information I received and most of the people I asked for information either didn’t know the answer the question and then didn’t try to find an answer . I felt very isolated .

Suggested improvements
Simple , clear communication. Both , between staff and departments , but more importantly, patients . I felt extremely vulnerable throughout ! Even a member of my operating urology team wasn’t sure which kidney I was having problems with !! I told him it was my left , which he argued with until I told him how to read my CT scan . This saw my confidence in the whole system fail .

I was taken in an ambulance with chest pains due to unstable angina, the first doctor knew my condition and wanted me monitored, but I was sat in a chair for over 8hours with only an anti sickness drug and a painkiller, I saw a doctor who examined me,I said I was still having pains to which he gave me paracetamol and said I could go home whilst I was in pain.

I was appalled at the lack of communication between both the staff with each other and with me the patient . I felt more and more worried as the hours and hours passed .

Suggested improvements
Clear and simple communication, in an understandable accent , told clearly would allay fear . I had to ask for nearly all the pertinent information about my operation/procedure . My faith in the system fell dramatically when I , the patient , had to explain to one of the urologist team how to interpret the CT scan . He was convinced it was my right kidney that was the problem . I had to explain to him that it was the left kidney and showed him why , using the picture !! I was worried !
